History In The Making Of The BlenderThe blender was invented in the year 1922 by Stephen Poplawski. Poplawski the first to put spinning blades in the bottom of a container. He wanted to design a gadget to make soda fountain drinks. In 1935 the blender was improves by Fred Osius who invented the famous Waring Blender. In 1910 Osius joined L.H. Hamilton and Chester Beach to form Hamilton Beach Manufacturing Co. This company is well know today for the kitchen appliances. At that time Fred Osius continued working on ways to improve on the blender that Stephen Poplawski made. The Famous Waring BlenderFred Waring, where the name of the blender comes from, was a Penn State engineering student. Fred fascinated by electrical gadgets and gizmos, got some fame first my a big band called Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, but he is best know for the Waring Blender. Although Fred Osius invented and patented the Waring Blender in 1933, it was Fred Waring that financed the endeavor. Fred Osius brought his idea backstage to Fred Waring's dressing room after a performance. Waring who like gadgets and new inventions promised to back him with money for research. $25,000 was a lot of money in 1933, almost a small fortune, but that and 6 months later the blender still wasn't working up to par. Waring dumped Fred Osius and took and had the blender redesigned. 1937 brought the Waring "Miracle Mixer" blender to the public. Believe it or not, the price of a blender is about the same price as it was back then. At the National Restaurant Show introduced the "Miracle Blender" was introduced and retailing for an astonishing price of $29.95! In 1935 Waring changed his blender's name to the Waring Blender, and the company was the Waring Corporation. Since Fred Waring traveled a lot with his band he took his blender marketing it to the hotels and restaurants. Bloomingdales and other stores soon followed purchasing this marvelous invention! The Waring Blender soon also became an important tool in hospitals and work as a research device for scientists. The millionth Waring Blender sold in 1954. The blender changed the way America had their drinks, food, and other ways of mixing. The blender one of life's great inventions! |
