Kitchen Accessories - Bread Machines - Ice Cream Makers - Fondue SetsHome Decor Center carries some kitchen appliances and accessories that some may have forgot they exist. Fondue was a very popular item in the 70's, everyone had to have them, everyone got them as Wedding or house warming gifts. Fondue is coming back strong and very popular. So if you have one in the closet get it out dust it and get it fired up! Nothing is better than homemade ice cream, sorry that is just the facts. Can't you remember when you were a child and had to sit on the crank one so your Dad could turn the crank? Well guess what they are mechanical now and are faster to have the ice cream ready, but still the ice cream come out like it was hand cranked for a couple of hours! We do offer both kinds though for those who would like to bring back old times for their children.
Principles of Home Decoration is a book written some time ago about decorating the home. Some of the ideas are still good for today's decorating. Fondue The Wondrous Melting PotWhen you think of fondue you think of the 60's and 70's everyone had a fondue pot. Fondue started in Switzerland to use up old cheese and stale bread, a staple food for the peasants. The fondue caught on and of course the Swiss kept it up and it made it's way over to America. Fondue pots are on a craze again. Having a fondue dinner party can be a big hit. Have marinated meat cut into little cubes and each person dipping it into the hot oil and cooking it to their liking. Lots of fun! Don't forget the vegetables, they are great cooked in oil and dipped in the cheese pot also! History in The Making Of Bread MachineAhh, the Bread Machine, a little slice of warm heaven, just to smell the bread cooking. The Bread Machine a kitchen appliance invented in Japan and introduced to the United States in 1987. No one thought it would be any good as the bread it made wasn't as good as the store bought fresh bread. This is because the older models cooked the bread a little hard. At any rate, the Bread Machine became a hit in the US. A Bread Machine can provide a good enough quality loaf of bread without all those extra additives and it more healthy than store bought bread. History In The Making of The Ice Cream Maker - MachinesI scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Ice cream that lovely frozen creamy melt in your mouth goodness! Ice cream use to be a luxury and was actually quite laborious before we had modern refrigeration. It was made only in the winter time when ice could be cut on ponds and lakes. The technique was still used then with salt and ice. The hand cranked churn invented in 1846 by and American woman Nancy Johnson. This churn made it possible to make ice cream at the location, and ice cream became a popular treat. The first ice cream factory was started in Baltimore Maryland in 1851, by a dairy farmer that could sell all of his milk. He was able to mass produce this frozen confection and sell it to those cheaper than what they were use to. So, now the luxury became a frozen treat for everyone. The dairy farmer Jacob Fussell set up ice cream parlors in many locations all the way to the middle US states. Fussell sold his parlors and factory to the well known Borden Dairy products. In 1926 when the continuous freezer was made this allowed for commercially mass production of ice cream companies. There are still old fashioned hand cranked ice cream makers. Freshly made ice cream is just down right yummy! If one is a little lazy and doesn't want to crank for an hour or so, there are ice cream machines. Of course if you don't want to fool with it, there are those ice cream parlors that also make fresh ice cream and it doesn't come out of the mass production tubs! |
